The Stacey Toran Foundation (STF) is a not-for-profit corporation created in 1998 to honor the memory and legacy of Stacey Toran.
Our unique and innovative programs are designed to address the knowledge, skills and behaviors all students need to live, plan and work successfully in today's society. The foundation through its Stacey Toran Youth Development Institute (STYDI), offers four curriculum-based programs that help students identify, develop and master basic skills that are essential for high school course work achievement.
STF has awarded 29 academic scholarships and awards of more than $40,000 to Indianapolis Public School students in order for them to pursue higher education.
During the 2008 / 2009 school year, STYDI served 39 students in the STF Mentoring program.
During the Summer of 2009, 34 students attended Camp FOCUS Academy:
- 98% of students reported that the program prepared them to go to high school.
- 94% of parents feel their child is more responsible as a result of their child attending camp.
- 89% of parents feel that their child is better prepared to enter high school as a result of the camp.
